TASTING AS A COUPLE

Last weekend, Madrid enjoyed truly summery weather. We were all eager to see the sun in the capital, and the parks were packed with people longing for those first rays that herald the change of season.
Through a Puerta del Sol full of tourists and making our way along the central Alcalá street we arrived at the Casino de Madrid, which was the place chosen, as in previous years, to celebrate the 4th Wine Tasting Prize for couples organized by Vila Viniteca.
The tradition and beauty of the building where these awards are held, as well as the originality of the initiative, made the event a success once again this year.
The winning couple took home the not inconsiderable sum of 15,000 euros. Second place received a slightly more modest reward of 5,000 euros, and third place earned a bonus of 2,000 euros.
More than 30 wineries gave all attendees the opportunity to taste their wines, and a tasting of the best cheeses in the world (more than fifty varieties) completed the program of a very interesting day.
We hope this initiative continues for many years, that more and more couples participate, and that we can attend to tell you about it.

The Green Dog 2010
a 100% verdejo with good structure and a price of approximately 8 euros.

Idoia 2009
A creamy and fruity white wine from the DO Catalunya. It's very affordable, around 8 euros, and has a smooth mouthfeel thanks to a few months of oak aging.
